Dryer Plant Operator

We are looking for a Dryer Plant operator in our Clayton, Iowa facility. The Dryer Plant is responsible for producing a super-fine grade sand called 100 mesh. 100 mesh is dried and loaded onto trucks at the Dryer Plant. Our Dryer Plant Operators are crucial to our operations efficiency and production flow. This position requires the operation of plant process equipment with the use of automated controls, quality control analysis, and data entry. They prevent breakdowns by properly monitoring equipment and performing effective proactive maintenance. This allows our operations to proceed without down time due to dryer breakdowns and repairs. Primary Responsibilities

The Dryer Plant Operator is responsible for and must perform all aspects of plant operations including plant process equipment operation with use of automated controls, truck loadout, quality control analysis, data entry and wheel loader operation. Dryer Plant Operators always comply with company, local, state, and federal compliance/safety rules. Other responsibilities include:

  • Operates plant processing and drying equipment such as: conveyors, rotary dryer, and loadout
  • Safely meeting or exceeding processing and quality marks
  • Operates the wheel loader
  • Quickly and accurately collects and analyzes data in order to make process changes and improvements when needed
  • Works in a safe team environment and take on new responsibilities when assigned
  • Assists in coordination of daily activities related to production and maintenance
  • Ensures all production data, inspections, shift logs are complete and accurate
Qualifications & Requirements

This position requires that the applicant have the following qualifications:

  • Must pass all pre-employment physical exam and drug test
  • Proficient in speaking and writing the English language
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use computer programs for process controls, truck load-out operations, lab analysis, and data collection/entry
  • Ability to work up to 12 hour shifts
  • Ability to stand for 6-12 hours on uneven sandy/rocky surfaces
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment, ladders, bend, and stoop
  • Ability to lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Possess high safety standards for self and others
  • Ability to wear a half-mask respirator for up to 12 hours at a time
  • Ability to work in damp, dimly lit, and confined work areas
  • Knowledge of process equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Work, and Outlook for communication and analysis
Education & Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Priority will be given to applicants with a 2 year technical degree or previous related experience
  • Prior heavy equipment experience preferred
Credentials & Licenses Required
  • Part 48 MSHA required. Training available onsite
  • All Pattison employees must hold a valid Driver’s License
