This project creates new opportunities for the local contractors and businesses in the area to grow with the Pattison Sand Team. CJ Moyna, a local contractor has been assisting with the project by providing a significant number of employees and equipment dedicated solely to the PSC site. At any given time, there are approximately 22 large pieces of equipment working on removing and relocating top soil, limestone and sand stone to be utilized throughout the operation and for sales purposes.
With a never-ending focus on environmental stewardship, Pattison Sand has recycled the materials excavated from this project in a variety of ingenious ways. The top soil that is being removed has been relocated along Mississippi Road were it will eventually be seeded and planted with trees to continue highlighting the natural beauty of our community. The limestone removed from this excavation has been utilized in several different ways. Some if it is being utilized as base and ballast material for the rail expansion project itself as well as being sold to customers. The sand stone is hauled and manufactured for our day-to-day sand production operations.
We have already utilized the rail structure for our first shipments of limestone to a variety of our valued customers. Above, you can see our first shipment of Rip Rap material ready for shipment to our first customer. Along with this rail line expansion, Pattison Sand has started construction of our all new state-of-the-art limestone crushing facility. This facility will have the ability to produce dry limestone year round and wet/washed limestone during the warmer months of the year. This will allow Pattison Sand to meet customer’s specifications, needs and requirements in our new aggregate business. As of February 17, 2017, 124 rail cars of limestone products have been shipped to our customers. We would like to thank our Pattison Sand team members, partners and local contractors who have made all of this possible. We are excited about the future for PSC, our local community and businesses as a result of this expansion, and we look forward to it with open arms.
